Apple's achievement with the iPhone 4 and the Application Store has earned the company several impressive records in the 2011

Provided through expert reports, 1.5 million iPhone 4 models sold on release day, Apple has earned the title of "Fastest-Selling Portable Gaming System" for its well-known smart phone, as accredited by Guinness World Records, The LA Times reports.

By comparison, Sony's PlayStation Portable sold just two hundred models on its launch date in 2005, while the Nintendo DS sold five-hundred copy in its first week of availability in November 2004.

"The release of the apple iphone hasn't just transformed the mobile market, but the video game globe too," said Gaz Deaves, Guinness Globe Records Gaming Editor. "With the never-ending Application Shop selection and an intuitive device, Apple has created a gigantic new space for itself in the casual games genre that literally brings entertainment to consumers wherever they may be."

Apple's Application Shop has also been awarded records for being the "Most Well-known Application Marketplace" and the "Largest Downloadable Video Game Shop." Using numbers from Sept 2010, Guinness Globe Records noted in a declaration that Apple company had received over 6.5 billion downloads since the release of the Application Shop and hosted 259,740 apps, including 61 flatulence simulators.

The App Store's 37,362 games (as of September 2010) dwarf the offerings from competitor downloadable game shops. PC game download service Steam offers one,a hundred and ten game titles, while Microsoft's Xbox Live Indie Arcade has 1,300 games and the Japanese Virtual Console shop has 576 game titles.

Apple also set the record for the "Largest Release Line-up of Any Gaming System" with the more than 500 available on the first day of business for the Application Shop.

iOS developers also took home several world records for their work. Rovio's popular "Angry Birds" game was mentioned as the "Top Paid-For Application Shop Game in Most Countries." As of October 2010, the game had been recognized as the top paid-for game in the Application Shop in a record sixty seven territories globally.

Rovio boss Peter Vesterbacka announced last month at the Globile Mobile Web Conference that total downloads of the game on all platforms had reached 140 million. According to Vesterbacka, Apple company "changed everything" about the mobile gaming market with the release of the apple iphone.
Apple company has reportedly appointed away two key gaming market PR experts from Nintendo and Activision in an effort to increase gaming on iOS.
